Hockey Development Team Update
As you know, Scottish Hockey restructured and renamed the Domestic Game Team to Hockey Development Team.
We are excited to announce the new additions to the team and update you all on the internal movements.
With the creation of a bespoke role to oversee the development and implementation of BRAVE Academy, Kelly Fillingham was appointed as the Brave Programme Lead in April. Kelly was previously the Regional Development Manager in the West, along with developing the BRAVE Academy over the couple of seasons. This allows Kelly to focus strategically on how BRAVE is delivered nationally.
To replace the gap the in west created by the above move, Lorna Esson was appointed as Regional Manager for the West. Lorna joined the team in June and will work with our stakeholders and partners in the West to grow and develop hockey. Lorna comes with a wealth of sport development experience in club, local authorities an universities.
As you will be aware, Michael McDougall was successful in obtaining the Competitions and Events Manager (senior) role earlier in the year. As such, Lewis Sinclair was recruited as the new Development Administrator and joined the team in May. Lewis has been involved in sport for the majority of his life, and previously worked at NHS 24.
Finally, Keith MacLeod joined the team as Hockey Engagement Manager in May. This post was introduced as a national role to support the hockey community on the journey to engage a wider audience and become more sustainable for the future. Keith brings a strong background of work and volunteer experience, from being a club President, working within other governing bodies along with universities, and most recently the charity sector.
On the appointments Director of Hockey Jennifer Griffin said “ We have gone through an intense and robust period of recruitment but I am delighted to have the team in place. It has been great to being new faces into the organization who all offer something different. This puts our Hockey Development Team in a strong position as we move towards the build phase.”
