Grand Masters Four Nations in Aberdeen
Hot on the heels of Scotland Women hosting Canada and France, the Scottish LX Masters Men play hosts to England, Ireland and Wales in four separate Four Nations competitions in Aberdeen this weekend (24th – 26th May)
Competitions will be played Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Over 60, Over 65, Over70 and, for the first time, there will be a Tournament Trophy event for non-international teams where Scotland will be represented by the highly successful Scottish Thistles.
Four weeks after the Celtic Cup in Swansea, there are major bragging rights at stake as well as serious preparation for the European Championships being hosted by KHC Dragons in Brasschaat, Belgium from 19th – 29th June.
With Ireland having led the way in the Over 60 competition in Swansea by a single point over Scotland, Adam McInnes’ squad will be eager to get a win before the teams play again in Belgium.
In the Over 65 and Over 70 events, Wales will be trying to wrestle the titles away from England and show that their strong showing in the Celtic Cup was not a ‘one off’. Both Scottish squads have been hit by injuries and Over 65 player/coach Ian Wilson and Over 70 coach Sandy Keith will be looking for improvements in performances. With one eye on the Europeans, both are hoping that all their players come through the weekend unscathed.
The event has received excellent support from Scottish Hockey technical personnel and match officials, who are taking the opportunity to involve North District members in support of the tournament.
Matches start on Friday afternoon at 4.00pm and will be played at three venues over the weekend, Countesswells, Rubislaw and Aberdeen Sports Village.
Match schedule can be found here.
Match results and placings will be available on AltiusRT
