The Junior Aspire Schools Tournaments are 8-a-side competitions for S1 and S2 pupils to participate in regional and national tournaments. It is open to all state secondary schools and other schools in the early stages of their hockey development.

Teams/Format

There will be separate competitions for girls & boys. Players should be in S1 or S2 at school – preferably under 14 at 1 January 2024.

Matches will be 8-a-side, half pitch, using Scottish Hockey’s ‘Eights’ rules. Goalkeepers are optional.

Locations/Timings

Regional tournaments will be held in November 2023.

These will be held on weekdays, or weekends if more suitable for a particular region. Locations will be based on the number of entries per region.

Teams will also be invited to take part in a national tournament on Friday 10 May 2024 at Dalnacraig, Dundee.

Entries for the regional events closed on 30 September 2023.

Costs

There will be no competition entry fee for the Junior Aspire tournaments.

For schools who are entering other Scottish Hockey schools competitions (e.g. Senior Aspire Cup), their affiliation fee will also cover the Junior Aspire Cup.

Regional Tournaments

The following Regional Tournaments have been arranged to date:

Wednesday 8 November – Midland Boys & Girls at Dawson Park, Dundee.

Friday 10 November – East Girls at Ross High School, Tranent.

Monday 20 November – Highland Boys & Girls at Bught Park, Inverness

Thursday 23 November – East Boys at Lasswade High School.
