Women’s Masters Hockey opportunities

Scottish Women’s Masters Hockey is going from strength to strength. To enable us to further improve the performance of our squads this season we are seeking:

(1) Coaches to assist with each of our 5 age group squads (over 40 to over 60).  Applicants should either be qualified coaches and have relevant coaching experience and should ideally be available to help select and coach at sessions on Sunday 19th November, Saturday 9th December  2017, Sunday 25th February and Sunday 18th March 2018. All squads will compete in the Home Countries in Swansea (8th-10th June) and the World Cups in Spain (20th – 30th June for 60s (TBC) and 27th July – 5th August for all other age groups). Additional training dates would be anticipated between March and June.  We are unfortunately not in a position to offer remuneration but travel expenses would be reimbursed and accommodation costs for tournaments.

(2) Managers to assist in the organisation of each of our five age group squads.  Applicants should ideally have relevant hockey managing experience and be available to attend the tournaments and some of the training/trials. One half of travel expenses and one half of accommodation costs for tournaments would be reimbursed. Players should apply for the post of manager if they would be interested in fulfilling this role if not selected to play. (An indication that a player would be interested in the position of manager would not be taken into account in the selection process.)

(3) Selectors to assist in the initial selection of each of the five age group squads (final selection being made by the coach). Applicants should be available to attend sessions on 19th November and 9th December 2017 and be able to select players considering the experience, skills and fitness of players. Unfortunately no travel expenses can be reimbursed.

Successful candidates for these posts will find themselves working with enthusiastic “mature” players who are still keen to learn and to play hockey in an increasingly highly competitive Masters environment.

Applications to be submitted no later than 10th November 2017 to Jacky Burnett. [email protected]
