Uddingston Run End of Term Festival
As part of UHC’s ongoing schools programme the club are holding a primary school end of term festival on Thursday the 26th March at Hamilton College.
This festival is the second one of the school year, with the one previously held in October aimed towards Primary 3 and 4 pupils. This festival is dedicated to the Primary 5 and 6 pupils, rewarding them for all their hard work during class time taster sessions, where they have been practicing hockey between January and Easter as part of Uddingston HC’s continuing in-school programme.
This programme consists of the club sending two full time coaches into local schools with ten primary and four secondary schools currently taking part and pupils being coached from Primary 1 up to 4th year and from these sessions up to threee lunch time/after schools clubs being started prior to pupils then being directed to UHC’s own club sessions.
In total there will be ten schools taking part in two sessions over the course of the day. The morning session (9:30-11:30am) will see Hamilton College, St. Bride’s, Bothwell, St. Mary’s and Muiredge primary schools all competing against one another.
In the Afternoon session (12:00-2:00pm), Thorntree, Aitkinhead, Tannochside, St. John the Baptist and Hallside Primaries will be competing. The club welcomes Hallside Primary School along to their first hockey tournament. Hallside Primary is Uddingston Hockey Club’s most recent school from South Lanarkshire to be added to the Clubs in school coaching programme.
We wish Uddingston HC all the very best for the day and are delighted with the great work they are doing within the local community to help develop hockey in the area.
