Scotland World League preparations continue against England
Scotland travel south to Lillieshall this weekend for two warm-up internationals against England on 27 & 28 April, as Derek Forsyth’s side continue their preparations for the FIH World League Round 2 competition in Paris next month.
The Scots recorded two wins (3-2, 6-0) against an experimental Belgian side in Waterloo last weekend, but a near full-strength England will present a much stiffer test for the players.
Eugene Connolly, Scotland Team Manager, said, “The games against England are ideal for our preparations for the FIH World League in Paris. We’re playing against real quality opposition and whilst we expect hard games, if we play like we did against Belgium last week, we’re confident that players can challenge England.
“England are under a new coach in the form of Bobby Crutchley so I’m sure he will be eager to watch his players in action. We expect to face the same England squad that will play the Netherlands later this week.”
Jamie Cachia is available and returns to the fold after playing for Sheffield in last week’s English promotion play-offs, while Forsyth is waiting on the outcome of injury assessments to Gareth Hall, Russell Anderson and Cammy Fraser.
“Jamie Cachia returns to the side after playing for Sheffield in last week’s domestic play-offs in England so we’re delighted to have him back”, said Connolly. “Gareth Hall, Russell Anderson and Cammy Fraser have slight niggles so we will wait on the outcome of their injury assessments before finalising the travelling party.”

Scotland Men: Jamie Cachia (Sheffield Hallam), Ian Moodie (Western Wildcats), Allan Dick (Holcolme), William Marshall, Gareth Hall, Alan Forsyth, Michael Bremner (all Glynhill Hotel Kelburne), Ross Stott, Gavin Byers (both Grove Menzieshill), Chris Grassick, Nick Parkes (both Surbiton), Dan Coultas (Cannock), Niall Stott (East Grinstead), Gordon McIntyre (Beeston), Iain Scholefield (Qui Vive), Wei Adams (Royal Penguins), Callum Duke (Edinburgh University), Derek Salmond (Inverleith).
