Jennifer Griffin joins Scottish Hockey as Director of Hockey
Following a competitive and comprehensive recruitment process Scottish Hockey has announced Jennifer Griffin as its Director of Hockey.
Jennifer joins Scottish Hockey on 10 October from Scottish Rugby where she has worked as the Regional Director for Glasgow South since November 2018. Jennifer is also the chair of Scottish Archery and has been in post since December 2020, having previously joined the board as an independent director in April 2020.
Prior to Scottish Rugby Jennifer worked for sportscotland as a Partnership Manager working with Triathlon Scotland; the SFA, Scottish Rugby, Scottish Disability Sport, Scottish Fencing, horsescotland and Scottish Archery.
Jennifer is also Team Manager for Scottish Gymnastics alongside being a group exercise instructor.
Scottish Hockey is in the ‘Reset’ phase of its ‘Reset, Build, Excel’ vision to be a professional, commercially sustainable, visible, inclusive and world-class governing body. The newly created Director of Hockey role is a key part of resetting Scottish Hockey, and shaping the organisation for the next decade and beyond.
Jennifer will lead all our hockey operations, from grassroots to high performance, including an in-depth analysis of current and potential growth strategies and leading the evolution of our culture.
The role will lead our Performance and Domestic Game teams to deliver our vision, strategy and objectives, supporting them through the challenges and opportunities that a reset naturally brings.
Jennifer said, “I’m delighted to be coming to Scottish Hockey, and I’m looking forward to meeting and working with everyone across the sport.
“It’s a really exciting time for hockey; there’s a huge appetite for change so to be part of that, and the new wave of the sport, drew me to the role. I can’t wait to get started.
“I’m also really looking forward to coming along to the EuroHockey qualifiers to cheer on Scotland, and meet some of the team and people within the sport before I start in October.”
Scottish Hockey’s CEO Barry Cawte added, “I am delighted that after a rigorous, robust and highly competitive recruitment process that we have appointed Jennifer as our new Director of Hockey.
“I have no doubt her expertise across the breadth of sport will have a significant impact on our direction of travel. We have big ambitions for the future and the appointment of Jennifer reaffirms this. The team and I are really looking forward to working with Jennifer at an exciting time for Scottish Hockey.”
