Brave Academy Development Series Continues
The Brave Academy Programme continues to gather pace this weekend with the Boys Academy Development Series taking place at Peffermill on Sunday. The boys’ series had a false start a fortnight ago, when the initial Glasgow leg of the series was washed out at Glasgow Green.
The girls’ series got off to a successful start last Sunday at Dalnacraig in Dundee, with some outstanding performances and a high quality standard of play at both Emerging and Aspiring stage groups.
Andy Tennant, Head of Performance, commented, “In keeping with the principles of the BRAVE Academy, the main focus for the competitive element of the programme is to allow the players the freedom and space to put into practice the learning from the training environment and continue to further develop the BRAVE characteristics. It was encouraging to see the young athletes embracing the principles of being bold in terms of their ambition to play with the ball, and relentless in their pursuit of excellence.”
Andy added, “While results are clearly important in performance sport, we have decided not to publish the results of the ‘development’ series, as it is just that; an opportunity for players to develop without a fear of the result – while still trying their best to find a way to win. We will however publish results whenever we play a ‘tournament’ Academy Series.”
