UK School Games National Finals

The UK School Games National Finals is an annual multi-sport event that brings together some of the most talented young athletes from across the UK. Each year, representative teams from Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland come together for a weekend of high-level competition at Loughborough University.

The event is designed to provide opportunities for athletes who may not have previously represented their country and/or who come from a state school background. It gives young athletes the opportunity to experience representative competition, test themselves against some of the best young players from across the UK and develop within a high-performance environment.

Selection through the Brave Cup

Participation in this year’s Brave Cup provided players with the opportunity to be considered for the Scottish representative squads competing at the UK School Games National Finals in Loughborough in early September.

The standard of hockey on display throughout the Brave Cup was extremely high, making the selection process particularly challenging. A huge amount of talent was on show across both competitions, with players demonstrating the ability, attitude and potential required to represent Scotland at the UK School Games.

Following the Brave Cup, Scotland has selected one U18 boys’ squad and one U18 girls’ squad to compete at the National Finals.

Congratulations to all those selected, and a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Brave Cup. The quality of performances and the commitment shown by all players made for a highly competitive selection process.

Competition and Preparation

The UK School Games will provide Scotland’s U18 squads with the opportunity to play three fixtures, competing against representative teams from England, Wales and Ireland.

Ahead of the National Finals, the selected squads will come together for two preparation days at Glasgow Green on:

Sunday 23 August
Sunday 30 August

These sessions will provide players and coaches with an important opportunity to build connections, establish team identity and prepare for the intensity of competition at the National Finals.

We wish both Scottish squads the very best of luck as they prepare to represent Scotland at Loughborough in September.
