Scottish Hockey members invited to meeting on Governance Review

Scottish Hockey has been engaged in the process of a
Governance Review since January 2012. In August, a Governance
Review update from the Chief Executive was communicated to members
via the website and members were invited to feedback their comments
to the organisation.

Those comments were considered at a joint meeting of the Board
of Directors and representatives of the Governance Review team on
30 August 2012 and it was agreed that two public meetings would be
arranged to provide members with the opportunity to engage in an
open discussion and take the temperature of the membership through
consideration of members’ views.

It was also agreed that the General Meeting to confirm the
amended articles should be held as soon as possible (provisional
target date is 28 October which will be confirmed shortly).

This is your opportunity to influence the governance of
our sport before that General Meeting.

Therefore, Scottish Hockey will run two Governance Meetings for
members where representatives of its Board of Directors and the
Governance Review team will:

  • Provide an update on the Governance Review
  • Outline the key proposed changes to the articles
  • Respond to comments and questions from members and note
    members’ views

The Governance Meetings will take place in the following
venues:

The short notice of these meetings is regretted but this is
necessary if we are to meet our target of holding the general
meeting before the end of October.
Feedback from these Governance Meetings will be fed in to a joint
meeting between the Board of Directors and the Governance Review
team, after which the amended articles will be drafted.

Further information is on the
Governance Review page

We would welcome and encourage as many members to attend as
possible and look forward to seeing you there.

If you plan to attend, please reply to [email protected]
with your name and venue (Stirling or Dundee).
