Gordonians left sweating on Hillhead result
Western Wildcats signed off their Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 1 campaign with a 4-3 win over AAM Gordonians at Auchenhowie today.
The result means that Gordonians will be anxiously waiting on the outcome of Hillhead’s encounter with Inverleith tomorrow.
The Glasgow side need to win by two clear goals tomorrow, anything less than that margin would enable the Aberdonians to avoid the play-off on goals scored.
In Men’s Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 2, CALA Edinburgh took a large step towards safety with a 2-1 victory at home to Glasgow University this afternoon. The capital outfit are now five points clear of second bottom Alpha Data Carnegie.
McWhinney Uddingston moved within four points of second place Falkirk GHG after a 4-2 win over Stepps.
Meanwhile, Strathclyde University rattled home ten goals against Stirling Wanderers in a 10-1 win in Men’s Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 3 today.
Finally, there was an epic penalty shoot-out contest in the Men’s Arthur McKay Scottish Plate semi-final between Hillhead and Granite City Wanderers today.
Following an entertaining 3-3 draw, the two sides contested a lengthy battle in the penalty deciders, which eventually saw Keith Joss’ side run out 16-15 winners to reach the final next month.
They will play Aberdeen GSFP after the Aberdonians triumphed 1-0 against Erskine Stewart’s Melville FP
