Clydesdale Hockey Club attempts to break two world records

On the south side of Glasgow, over the May bank holiday weekend, a unique endeavour will be attempted by Clydesdale Hockey Club.

Over the space of four days, the club will attempt to break not one, but two world records.

On Friday 24th May at 8am they will begin their bid to break the record for the longest hockey match ever played. The current record of 56 hours, 18 minutes and 45 seconds will be broken if they hit their target of 60 hours, ending at 8pm on Sunday 26th May.

Not happy with that, they will then begin their second attempt the following day on the 27th May at 1pm when they intend to put out 440 players in a seven hour exhibition match finishing at 8pm that evening and smashing the current record of 367 players.

Of course all of this is being done for a reason as they require to raise funds for a new playing surface; a surface which serves the community with over one thousand pairs of feet crossing that pitch every week.
