BRAVE Cup 2026 day one delivered on action

Devils 5-0 Thunder (Aspiring Girls)

Devils Aspiring Girls opened up their BRAVE Cup campaign with a 5-0 win over Thunder at Strathallan. Devils took the shootout fir the extra point.

Devils started on the front foot and looked dangerous down the right. Devils took the lead through a low penalty corner strike to make it 1-0.

Thunder looked threatening towards the end of the first quarter but the Devils kept them at bay.

The second quarter Devils continued to pressure and went 2-0 ahead when Anais Deschamps swept home to double the advantage.

Thunder crashed against the post as a comeback rumbled into action.

It then went to 3-0 as half time approached and Devils started to pull out of sight.

The third quarter was a more even affair with neither side creating any clear opportunities for goals.

In the final quarter the goals returned and Devils went 4-0 ahead through a turn and scoop into the roof of the net by Sophie Davies-Macleod.

Devils Harriet Fleetham swept into an empty net to make it 5-0 and complete the scoring.

 

Aspiring boys Devils 1-5 Thunder 

An excellent 5-1 victory for Thunder over Devils saw them get off to a great start to their aspiring boys BRAVE Cup campaign. Thunder won the shootout for the bonus point.

Thunder took the lead through a Cole Norrie penalty corner rebound into the roof of the net for 1-0.

The team from the west pushed for more goals but the Devils defence was a tough nut to crack and the quarter ended 1-0.

Thunder went 2-0 up when Sam Johnson finished off a lovely sweeping move with a far post tap in.

After the half time break Devils had a goal disallowed as they set about getting back into the match.

It went to 3-0 when Thunder was awarded a stroke and it was coolly dispatched into the bottom right corner by Nicholas Richmond.

The final quarter Devils peppered the Thunder goal from the outset but couldn’t find a way through.

Devils eventually pulled one back with a lovely near post finish by Brian McGarrity for 3-1.

Thunder put the game to bed with a near post finish before Johnson scored again for 5-1, and complete the scoring.

The running penalties then went to Thunder.

Emerging Girls- Devils 1-0 Thunder 

A close encounter saw Devils defeat Thunder 1-0 in the Emerging Girls BRAVE Cup. Devils also won the shootout to claim the bonus point.

It was a very even opening to the match with neither side asserting dominance. Thunder had two penalty corner opportunities but couldn’t get anything on target.

The second quarter continued to be close and tense but everything changed when Devils smashed home a penalty corner for 1-0.

The third quarter was as tight as the other two, but Devils came close, only to be denied by the outside of the post.

In the final quarter the close contest continued to be tight, but Devils looked more likely to hit the net.

The shootout for the bonus point also went to Devils.

 

 

Emerging Boys – Devils 1-2 Thunder 

A late winner saw Thunder defeat Devils 2-1 in the Emerging Boys BRAVE Cup. Devils took the bonus point in the shootout.

Devils started strong and fashioned some opportunities for strikes at goal but didn’t hit the target and quarter one ended goalless.

The game exploded into life in the second quarter when a thunder bolt of penalty corner strike by Charlie Hamilton made it 1-0 to Thunder.

Devils hit back when they equalised from the penalty spot as Cameron Paton found the bottom right corner. 1-1.

Thunder continued to threaten as the half reached a conclusion but there would be no further goals.

Devils spread the ball around well as the built into the game, but the Thunder defence held up strong.

The final quarter was a feisty affair and Devils smashed the post from a corner routine.

It was Thunder who struck late when Murray Brown stroked the ball home at the far post for 2-1 and snatch the victory. Devils hit back in the shootout to win the bonus point.
