Wins for Edinburgh University women and Western Wildcats men
Edinburgh University consolidated their second spot in the women`s Premiership with a narrow 3-2 victory over third placed Clydesdale Western at Titwood.
The students are now only two points behind leaders Watsonians but have played a game more. Ava Smith, Jika Nyirenda and Jess Ross were on target for Edinburgh while Heather Howie and Emma Murray replied for Clydesdale.
Western Wildcats slipped into second spot in the men`s Premiership after beating second bottom Grove Menzieshill 5-1 in a catch-up fixture at Auchenhowie.
The victory brought them level on 27 points with Edinburgh University, but Wildcats took over the runners-up spot by the slender margin of a single goal, although both still trail Grange by four points. Andrew Lochrin scored twice for Wildcats while the other goals came from Rob Harwood, Iain McFadden and Jonny Christie.
The Taysiders consolation came from a reverse stick rebound at a penalty corner by Euan Van Aswergan.
