U16 squads face England at Bellahoustan
Scotland’s U16 international teams welcome England to
Bellahoustan, Glasgow this weekend with both the boys’ and girls’
squads facing two matches on 29th & 30th May against their
counterparts from south of the border.
U16 Boys’ Head Coach Calum Wood has selected a group of twenty
players for the visit of the English youth internationals,
including Kelburne trio Edward Greaves, Jack McAllister and Lee
Morton; Watsonians’ Daniel Cain, Andrew Oliphant, and Stuart
Nickerson; and Gordonians’ pairing Grant Scott and Ross
Milner.
Meanwhile, Scotland U16 Girls Head Coach Elaine Brierley names
eighteen players in her squad to face England. Borders Fjordhus duo
Emily Newlands and Lucy Ramsey are included along with a strong
contingent of players from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee based
clubs. Hannah Thomson of English club Surbiton also makes the
squad.
For England’s U16 girls, the matches will be poignant occasions
following the sudden death of squad member and Surbiton player Emma
Broad, who died unexpectedly in her sleep last weekend. There
will be a minute’s silence before the first match on Sunday, with
both teams also wearing black armbands in tribute to Emma.
