U16 Scottish Cup Finals reinstatement
Following a review of the decision to cancel the U16 Scottish Cup Finals after the submission of only one entry before the competition entry deadline, Scottish Hockey’s Management Committee has considered a case presented by a number of members and has decided to reinstate the U16 Scottish Cup Finals on 10 March 2013.
However, we still require competition entry submissions and to date, we are short of entries for the U16 Scottish Cup Finals competition.
Please fill in the online entry form by Friday 1 March 2013.
The Management Committee has made an exception on this occasion based on the dialogue we have had with a number of district representatives since the decision was made, but Scottish Hockey would like to issue a strong reminder to clubs, schools and districts that they have a direct responsibility to meet the competition entry deadlines that were issued at the start of the 2012/13 season by the Competitions & Events Manager.
Furthermore, it is clearly stated in the Youth Competitions Byelaws that competition entry deadlines are required to be adhered to and moving forward, competition entries that are submitted after an explicit deadline has been communicated will not be accepted.
We would encourage youth hockey representatives to engage in dialogue with Scottish Hockey to update relevant staff members on the progress of district level competitions so that our youth events can be planned and implemented in a reasonable and fair timeframe.
Scottish Hockey hopes to be appointing a Youth Convenor in the near future and, at the earliest opportunity, we will convene a meeting of the Youth Competitions Advisory Group to review youth competitions.
Thank you for your co-operation.
