Top two go head to head in Division 1 battle
Pick of the day’s fixtures in the Men’s Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 1 is undoubtedly the top of the table clash between Glynhill Hotel Kelburne and Grange at Bellahouston on Saturday.
Both sides are deadlocked on 21 points, with Colin Clarke’s side having played a game more. For the Edinburgh outfit, it is a must-win match as the Paisley pace-setters look likely to run away with the league title once again.
For Kelburne, they are looking to stretch their 100% win record record in the league to eight matches and will look to the likes of Scotland and Great Britain U21 striker Alan Forsyth, top scorer with 15 goals this season, and Johnny Christie to spearhead the attack.
Meanwhile, Western Wildcats can secure their place in the top five of the league for the post-split when they play second from bottom AAM Gordonians at Auchenhowie (12.00). Vishal Marwaha’s side need a point against the Aberdonians tomorrow to confirm their spot, consigning PSL Team Sport Clydesdale to the bottom five.
AMN Hillhead could put some distance between themselves and second from bottom AAM Gordonians, but will have their work cut out against Chris Anderson’s Grove Menzieshill side, who could move into second place if results elsewhere go their way. The two sides meet at Jordanhill at 14.25.
In Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 2, leaders Dundee Wanderers could extend their lead to eleven points at the top of the division if they can overcome second place Falkirk GHG at Dawson Park (11.30).
At the bottom, CALA Edinburgh will aim to pull themselves out of the relegation places when they play rivals Dundee University at Riverside Park (13.30), while Highland could find themselves marooned at the bottom if they lose out to third place Glasgow University at Garscube (14.30).
Fresh from the European excursion to Athens, McWhinney Uddingston are aiming to move back into contention for promotion when they are away from home to Granite City Wanderers at Aberdeen Sports Village (12.00).
Finally, Stepps play Aberdeen GSFP at Millerston (15.30) and Alpha Data Carnegie are at home to St.Andrew’s University at HMS Caledonia (14.30).
