SDP Squads Continue European Championship Preparations with Series Action in Belfast and Bowdon
Scotland’s Men’s and Women’s SDP squads continued their preparations for this summer’s European Championships with challenging series fixtures against Ireland and England over the weekend.
Women’s SDP Squad Take on England U21s in Bowdon
Scotland Women’s SDP squad braved soaring temperatures in Bowdon as they faced England U21s in a demanding three-match series.
The opening encounter saw Scotland come up against a clinical England side, with goals from Lexie MacMillan and Marianna MacLean in a 7-2 defeat. The second game was another competitive contest, with Riley Thomson on target as England claimed a 3-1 victory. In the final match of the series, Lexie MacMillan scored Scotland’s goal in a 4-1 defeat as the squad continued to test themselves against high-quality opposition.
As always, the series provided a valuable test and represents another important step in the team’s preparations for July’s European Championship. The women will compete in the top tier this year and are aiming to secure back-to-back qualification for the Junior World Cup, which will take place in 2027.
The squad made encouraging progress across the weekend, continuing to develop key areas of their game and building momentum ahead of the summer’s major competition. Attention now turns to a home fixture against Ireland in Glasgow in a couple of weeks’ time, before the team travels to Valencia for the European Championship.
