Scottish officials in action in February
As international teams head off to much warmer climes, our technical officials and umpires are staying indoors in the European winter.
In January we had three officials at the men’s U21 indoor championships in Geneva with John Heron as umpires manager, Greig Cunningham as an umpire, and Kevin Donachie as a technical official
We also had Martin Monagan as a technical official at the FIH Indoor World Cup in Zagreb, Croatia 3-9 February and, Wendy Stewart originally from Aberdeen, and well known in Scottish Hockey circles was one of the umpires managers.
This weekend, 14-16 February, Alex Fedenczuk will be an umpire at the EuroHockey Indoor women’s club cup in Siauliai Lithuania, while Katie Howie will be an umpire at the EuroHockey Indoor women’s club trophy in Porto, Portugal.
Jean Duncan appears as umpires’ manager, Duncan Ruzzak as an umpire and Cat Graham as a technical official at the EuroHockey indoor women’s club challenge 1 in Vienna, Austria. Cat will later in the month also attend the course for potential technical officers.
Barbara Morgan will be the TD at the joint Indoor Men’s and Women’s EuroHockey Indoor Club Challenge II in Porvoo, Finland.
Later this month on 21-23 February, Grace Mulholland will be a technical official at the Indoor Men’s EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup in Wettingen, Switzerland.
Scott Baird will be the TD and Jamie Telfer will be an umpire at the Indoor Men’s EuroHockey Indoor Club Trophy in Budapest, Hungary.
Katie Joss will be a technical official and Lewis White will be an umpire at the Indoor Men’s EuroHockey Indoor Club Challenge I in Puconci, Slovenia. Two of our youngest officials acting as good role models for others who want to explore other routes into international participation.
Good luck and well done to all our officials flying the flag for Scotland this month!
