Scotland women’s squad announced to host Wales at Peffermill
The Scotland women’s squad have been named to face Wales this weekend in an uncapped series at Peffermill. The contests will take place on Saturday at 3pm; Sunday at 3pm; and on Monday at 10am.
The series follows the team’s appearance at FIH Nations Cup in Chile where Scotland finished above ranking in fifth spot, and finishing the tournament with a sensational 2-0 win over Japan.
Scotland women are now building towards the EuroHockey Championships in Monchengladbach on 9-17 August. The Scots have been drawn in Pool B alongside Belgium, England and Spain, while Pool A has The Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, and France.
It was a EuroHockey Championship Qualifier tournament win in Glasgow that saw Scotland earn their spot in the tournament, with a 2-1 victory over Wales in the final.
Head Coach, Chris Duncan, said, “After a busy start to the year, and a really pleasing showing in Chile at the Nations Cup, we are looking forward to getting back into competitive action against Wales over the Easter weekend. With so many positives, and learning opportunities coming from the Nations Cup, we have made some really good strides over the past few weeks and are looking forward to testing these out against a Wales side who are always well organised and difficult to play against.
“With European club competition taking place, we have a number of players representing their clubs, so it also provides an opportunity for us to look at some different combinations and positional considerations as we move through our preparation towards the EuroHockey Championships in August.”
