Scotland Under 18’s Girls squad announced for Euro’s
The Scotland Under 18 Girls’ squad has been announced for the upcoming EuroHockey Youth Championships II in Rakovnik, Czech Republic. The matches will start on Sunday 15th July and the tournament will run until Saturday 21st July.
Scotland face Wales in their first game on Sunday 15th July at 12:30pm (UK time), and is sure to be a gripping encounter to start the campaign. The second game falls on Monday 16th July against Russia at 5:00pm (UK time). With a day off in between, Scotland then face Lithuania on Wednesday 18th July at 12:30pm (UK time) to complete the Pool stage.
The semi finals and finals will be played on the 20th and 21st July.
This tournament follows Scotland recent matches against England which provided great preparations for the upcoming tournament.
Head Coach Keith Smith said,“Preparation has been going well so far – we’ve had some challenging test series against Wales, Poland and England in recent months, and we now also have a run of training camps under our belts too.
“The players in the programme have really pushed each other to improve this year, on and off the pitch. As a result final selection for the tournament was extremely difficult; there are a number of talented youngsters who unfortunately miss out this time, and the players who were chosen recognise that we couldn’t have raised our collective standards as much as we have without their contributions.
“We’re now in the final stages of our preparations, and the upcoming series against Ireland is the perfect opportunity to fine-tune various aspects of our play and test ourselves against a team who are competing in the division above us this summer.
“The group are really looking forward to the challenge of the Euros and are focused on what they want to achieve there. I’m confident that the tournament will prove to be a valuable experience for them on their way to becoming future senior internationals.”
