Scotland men’s squad selected for FIH Nations Cup
The Scotland men’s squad has been selected to compete in the FIH Hockey Nations Cup in Cape Town, South Africa, from 11-20 June 2026. Scotland qualified for the tournament after winning the inaugural FIH Nations Cup 2 in Muscat, Oman last year – a tremendous success for the team.
There are a number of new faces in the squad with Euan Gilmour; Jacob Tweedie; Jedd Campbell; and Ollie Wilson all earning their first caps in Cape Town.
The Blue Sticks will compete in Pool A at the Nations Cup against Japan; Korea; Malaysia; and New Zealand. Pool B has France; Ireland; South Africa; and USA.
Malaysia will be Scotland’s first game and they meet on Thursday 11 Jun at 11:15. Then on Friday 12 Jun at 18:00 New Zealand will be Scotland’s opponents before the Blue Sticks face Japan on Sunday 14 Jun at 13:45. Scotland’s final pool game will be on Tuesday 16 Jun at 13:30 against Korea, before the latter stages of the tournament.
The Blue Sticks are off the back of the FIH World Cup Qualifiers in Santiago, Chile, where they finished fifth gaining vital ranking points. The squad is building towards the EuroHockey Championship Qualifiers in Rome on 9-12 July. The Scots take on Turkey in the first match of a knockout tournament to qualify for the EuroHockey Championship in 2027.
Interim Head Coach Neil Allan said, “I am delighted to announce the 20 players who will represent Scotland at the Nations Cup in South Africa. This tournament presents a fantastic opportunity for the squad to compete at a world-class level against top-quality opposition. Testing ourselves against teams from Oceania and Asia, and the different styles they bring, will be hugely beneficial to our development as we build towards the European Qualifiers this summer.
“I am also pleased to confirm that four players will earn their first senior caps. Euan Gilmour, Jacob Tweedie, and Jedd Campbell will all make their senior debuts following a strong and impressive training block. In addition, Ollie Wilson, who recently stepped up from the Under-21 squad, will also earn his first senior cap. This is an excellent opportunity for Ollie to gain valuable senior experience while continuing his development within the U21 programme.
“We are excited about the challenge ahead and confident that this tournament will play a key role in our continued progress on the international stage”
