Kelburne gallop along
SUBWAY NATIONAL LEAGUE (MEN)
There is no stopping the Glynhill Kelburne bandwagon
galloping relentlessly towards their eighth consecutive Subway
national league title, today it was Grove Menzieshill`s turn to be
put to the sword with a 9-0 defeat on Tayside.
The champions were four up at the interval, Alan Forsyth,
teenager Lee Morton, Willie Marshall from a penalty corner and Ross
McIntyre were on target.
The avalanche continued unabated after the interval, Forsyth
picked up his second Tayside hat-trick of the weekend, Morton and
Marshall scored their own seconds, and Mark Ralph notched one from
a set piece. Kelburne goalkeeper Mark Fulton must
have enjoyed his day out in Dundee, he had one save in the entire
game, and that with only 10 minutes left.
After seeing off Edinburgh University 3-1 in a catch-up fixture
at Peffermill, Inverleith move into third spot, three points ahead
of Western Wildcats and only two behind Grange with a game in
hand.
After a goalless first half, the Edinburgh students took a shock
lead with an individual effort from Olympian Graham Moodie early in
the second half. This kick-started McCurry`s charges into
action, Phil Hall brought the scores level when he flipped the ball
over the keeper and the same player gave Inverleith the lead when
he slid in and scored with his reverse stick. The three
points were sealed with a solo goal from Andrew Johnson, and
Inverleith are now within two points of Grange.
