Eightsome reel for Kelburne

SUBWAY NATIONAL LEAGUE (MEN)

Glynhill Kelburne will once again open the champagne at
Whitehaugh after claiming their eighth consecutive Subway national
league crown following a 6-1 victory over Edinburgh University at
Peffermill.  Nobody can deny the Kelburne eightsome, they have
not dropped a single point in the entire campaign.

By his own admission, Kelburne manager Harry Coles remarked that
his charges were not at their best in the first half, but still
managed to reach the break 3-1 ahead.   Alan Forsyth laid
the foundation with a low shot from the top of the circle and then
added a second when he flicked the ball over the goalkeeper from a
rebound at a penalty corner.   Jonny Christie added the
third with a reverse stick shot before the students pulled one back
just on the interval.

The second half was the Jonny Christie show, the former
international striker scored a hat-trick which effectively stifled
any resistance from Edinburgh.

Inverleith`s mission to grab second spot in the table and a
place in Europe next season took another dent as the Edinburgh side
were held to a 3-3 draw on Tayside against Grove Menzieshill.
Inverleith are now four points adrift of rivals Grange with only
three games remaining.

Chris Anderson opened for the Taysiders in 23 minutes, but three
minutes later Andrew Sinclair had brought the scores level.
Just before the interval Ollie James took advantage of a slip by an
Inverleith defender to put Menzieshill 2-1 ahead.

Inverleith seemed to have the match sewn up with two penalty
corner conversions by Adam McKenzie for a 3-2 lead as the cards
began to flow.  But in the final minute Chris Anderson sent a
penalty corner flick into the roof of the net to level the score at
3-3.

SUBWAY NATIONAL LEAGUE (WOMEN)

Giffnock produced one of the best performances of the season to
beat fourth placed Edinburgh University 4-0 at Peffermill, and they
now move to within three points of Milne Craig Western in second
spot in the table, but Rhona Simpson`s charges have played two
games more.  Giffnock were a goal in front at the interval,
Simpson rifled home a unstoppable shot from around the penalty spot
area.  In the second half Simpson scored a second and the
other strikes came from Cath Stirling and Kareena Marshall.
