Clydesdale Western win Women’s Scottish Cup Final in Glasgow
Azets Clydesdale Western won the Women’s Scottish Cup with a goal-laded 6-2 victory over Western Wildcats.
The opening stages of the match saw the play edged by Clydesdale but the game’s first opportunity didn’t come until the end of the quarter with Jika Nyirenda denied by a solid double save.
Jenny Eadie opened the scoring for Clydesdale early in the second quarter with Emma McGregor striking a second soon after for a 2-0 lead.
Clydesdale’s third goal was a lovely corner routine deflected into the roof of the net by Ciara Forgie.
The fourth goal came in the second half through a thunderous low effort from Nyirenda after some good build-up down the right. 4-0.
A penalty corner routine was converted by Forgie for 5-0 before Kate Holmes swept home a penalty corner effort to pull one back for Western Wildcats for 5-1.
In the final quarter Fiona Semple tipped home at the far post to make it 6-1 for Clydesdale before Alex Stuart scored a late consolation on a swift counter for Western in the latter stages to make it 6-2, and the trophy heading to Titwood.

In a close and tense contest Preston Lodge defeated Gordonians 2s 1-0 to lift the Women’s District Plate in Glasgow.
It a cagey opening to the game Gordonians 2s edged the play but it was Preston Lodge who eventually opened the scoring through Anna Dudgeon. The ball was bundled home to make it 1-0 at the end of the first half.
Gordonians enjoyed lots of pressure as the match progressed but couldn’t find the net and Preston Lodge was victorious.
A 3-1 victory saw Uddingston defeat Watsonians 2s to lift the Women’s Scottish Plate in Glasgow.
It was an end-to-end start to the game with both sides playing with ambition. The opener came from a slick corner routine that was tipped home at the near post for 1-0 to Watsonians 2s.
At the start of the second quarter Uddingston equalised when an attack down the left opened up the Watsonian defence and let Katie Watson tap-in at the far post for 1-1.
Uddingston went ahead at the start of the final quarter when a penalty corner routine was forced home to make it 2-1.
Priya Wankhede secured the win for Uddingston with a fierce low strike into the bottom right corner for 3-1.
A close and tense contest in the Women’s District Cup Final saw Glasgow University 3s win the cup in a 1-0 victory over Grange 3s.
There wasn’t much between the teams for the duration of the contest but it was a dramatic late winner that saw the trophy go to Glasgow.
Madeleine Bower Finished off a counter from the students in the finals seconds to win the cup for Glasgow University 3s.
