Chair Scott Baird graduates from Leadership Programme
Scottish Hockey Chair Scott Baird was among the first group of graduates recognised by sportscotland for completing the Scottish Governing Bodies of Sport Leadership Programme at an event at Hampden Park .
The initiative, run in conjunction with Plan4Sport, is the first of its kind in the UK to offer a bespoke training programme for three levels of leaders: Chairs/President, Chief Executives and future leaders.
The programme is designed to give current and future leaders in governing bodies the skills required to effectively run their sport in a demanding and ever-changing environment.
Louise Martin CBE, Chair of sportscotland said:
“sportscotland firmly believes that investing in people is critical to the development of a world-class sporting system.
“We don’t think time spent on learning is just valuable; we believe it is vital to the development of sport in this country. Leaders provide inspiration to those who follow in their footsteps and we want the leaders in Scottish sport to be the best that they can be.
“Congratulations to all of the graduates and I look forward to welcoming many more to the programme in the future.”
Twenty five leaders from 15 sports graduated from the programme that covered business critical areas such as communication skills, financial management, line management and recruitment, giving participants the confidence and competence to drive their sports forward.
Although these leaders have now graduated from the programme, they will continue to benefit from additional mentoring and support in the coming months.
