Junior Girls Challenge Plate

Wellington 8-1 Peebles

The fog cleared to blue skies for the opening game of the day, and Wellington were on fine form in front of goal as they clinched the Junior Girls Challenge Plate. A wonderful early goal from captain Sophie Alexander got them started and they raced into a five goal lead by half time thanks to further strikes from Eva Cowan, Poppy Williamson, Mia Barbour and a second from Alexander.

Peebles came into the game in the second half and had some chances of their own, they did pull a goal back through Connie Buckingham but only after Ellis Paton-Browne had added a sixth for Wellington. As we approached full time Alexander clinched her hat trick and Annie Cumming rounded off the scoring.

Junior Girls Plate

The Glasgow Academy 4-0 St George’s School

In the second game of the day, The Glasgow Academy were clinical in front of goal in a game that both teams had plenty of chances. Hannah Simpson opened the scoring for Academy in the 7th minute and a quickfire second from Chidimma Oporum gave the Glasgow side a two goal lead at half time.

Immediately after half time Simpson added her second to put the game beyond St George’s and in latter part of the match Emily MacDuff scored to give her side a comfortable win.

Junior Boys Plate

Loretto 0-4 George Watsons College

In the first boys game of the day, George Watsons College emerged victorious over Loretto. Jacob Leiper opened the scoring for Watsons in the 8th minute of the game, and Tom Mitchinson added a second just before half time.

Two goals in the space of a minute killed the game off midway through the second half as Leiper grabbed both to complete his hat trick and claim the Junior Boys Plate for George Watsons College.

Hutchesons Grammar School 4-0 Earlston High School

The fourth game of the day was the Junior Girls Challenge Cup Final. Sofia Faqir opened the scoring from a penalty corner early on for Hutchesons before Erika Tait added a second a few minutes later. It was three before half time as Faqir scored her second, again from a penalty corner.

It would remain that way until the final seconds of the game when Emily Kassiri added a fourth to give Hutchesons Grammar School the 2026 Challenge Cup.

George Watsons College 4-1 Edinburgh Academy

In the Junior Girls final, a tense first half saw George Watsons go into half time with a 1-0 lead thanks to a wonderful goal by Elizabeth Sweetman. Edinburgh Academy grew into the game, and early in the second half found an equaliser as Lily Parkes finished off a penalty corner. Midway through the second half George Watsons put the tie out of reach with three goals in three minutes. Holly Lawson finished off penalty corner routines either side of Sweetman grabbing her second with a great reaction finish.

Junior Boys Cup

Stewarts Melville College 1-4 Fettes College

In the sixth and final game of the day, Fettes College claimed the Junior Boys Cup with a win over last years champions Stewarts Melville College.

In a closely contested first half Fettes went into the break with a single goal lead courtesy of Harry Toub. The second half was an end-to-end contest and the final four goals of the game came in an eight-minute period. Fettes doubled their lead through Ellis Whiteside before Stewarts Melville got back in the game through a penalty corner from Ewan Preen. A tremendous solo goal from Kaze Cordero regained Fettes two goal advantage and Toub rounded off the scoring with his second of the day.
