YOUTH INTER-DISTRICT TOURNAMENT (GIRLS) AT
PEFFERMILL
Midland have a one point lead from East and South West
in the girls under 18 inter-district tournament at Peffermill with
wins over West and South and a goalless draw with
North.
Goals have certainly been sparse in the Midland success, Jessica
Ross scored the only goal from the spot with two minutes left in
the single goal victory over West while Heather Aitken`s sole
counter accounted for South.
East are perhaps in the best position, a point behind Midland
but with a game in hand. East started with a
comfortable 3-0 win over South, the first strike came from an own
goal, while Kirsten Peters and Catriona McLellan accounted for the
others. North were the next victims losing 4-0, this time
Millie Brown scored twice for East and the other goals came from
Waverley Miller and Rebecca Trimble.
South West are also on six points, but after three games.
They started with a two goal win over North, Emma Ormond and Julia
Baldwin were on target. In the final game of the day South
West saw off South by a single goal from Caitlin Kirdwood, but in
between they fell 2-1 to West, only Zoe Sinclair was on target
while Alison Eadie and Jennifer Mathieson in the final minute
scored for West.
West appear to be running away with the under 16 tournament with
three straight wins. They opened with a 3-0 victory over
Midland, Anna Cunningham getting two while Catriona Booth got the
other. It was then North`s turn to fall, they went down
2-0 to West, Cunningham again getting a double. West
finally signed off for the day with a 3-1 win over South,
Cunningham got her fifth of the day, while Mairead Corrigan and
Makenzie Brown were also on target.
West`s nearest challengers are South, in their three games they
had a goalless draw with North, then beat South West 2-1 with Kerri
Dow and Jennie Robson finding the net, and finally losing to West
with Lucy Ingles getting the consolation. The other
three games ended in draws.
