Wildcats continue winning streak.
Western Wildcats continued their recent impressive performances
with a comfortable 3-0 over Edinburgh University at Millerston
today in the Subway National League. Vishal Marwaha’s side
stretched their unbeaten run to five games since drawing 3-3 with
today’s opponents in the first half of the season.
The Wildcats were two up by the interval with open play goals
from the inform Scott McCartney and Gary Maitles and a further set
piece goal from McCartney sealed the points. Marwaha expressed his
satisfaction saying “It was good to keep this run going and keep
the pressure on Grange and Inverleith.”
Ironically Inverleith slipped back to fourth position as a
result of the game with AMN Hillhead falling foul of a pitch let
problem which led to the game being cancelled.
Grange recovered from last week’s defeat against Glynhill Hotel
Kelburne with a narrow 3-2 win over a Greaves Clydesdale who
produced one of their best performances of the season despite
eventually losing out in a thoroughly enjoyable encounter. Grange
captain Rob Barr conceded “We were perhaps a little fortunate to
come out of the game with all three points.”
The home team were two ahead by the break with goals from Cammie
Fraser and Andrew Brogdon but Clydesdale came back into the
game through a Raymond Wrightson goal. However Grange restored the
two goal advantage through a second from Fraser before Ciaran
Crawford netted a second goal for the visitors. Clydesdale’s Gordon
Shepherd reflected “Whilst I am obviously unhappy with the result,
I was very pleased with the performance.”
The only other game played saw CALA Edinburgh return to winning
ways by getting the better of the bottom club VWS Wanderers 5-3.
The Dundee team led at half time 2-1 but the defensive frailties
apparent all season resurfaced after the break allowing CALA to run
out winners.
League leaders Kelburne were not in action today as Grove
Menzieshill are participating in an Indoor tournament in
Prague.
