The game got off to a fast start with both sides looking to take the early impetus on the contest, and it was Edinburgh University who edged the possession, though neither side created any openings.
Late in the opening quarter Watsonians fashioned a couple of openings, the best of which was a Katherine Holdgate shot that fired wide of the right post.
Early in the second quarter Watsonians had a chance from a penalty corner and Emily Dark’s drag flick was well saved to keep the scores level.
