Watsonians claim U18 Scottish Cup double

Watsonians claimed a double victory in the U18 Scottish Cup yesterday when both the Girls and the Boys sides won their finals against CALA Edinburgh and Strathallan respectively.
In the U18 Girls Scottish Cup, goals from Hanna McKie and an own goal gave CALA Edinburgh a 2-1 semi-final win over local rivals Inverleith, while two strikes from Lucy Ramsay and a goal from Gina Ramsay provided Watsonians with a 3-2 win over Strathallan in the second semi-final.
Three goals in the opening fourteen minutes got Watsonians off to a flyer in the final against CALA Edinburgh; Waverley Miller got the first goal in the seventh minute, Gina Ramsay doubled their lead in the 12th minute, before Miller grabbed her second of the match in the 14th minute to make it 3-0.
CALA then pulled one back in the 30th minute through Constance Lathe to leave the score 3-1 at half-time.
However, Watsonians extended their lead only a minute after the re-start when Claire Hill made it 4-1 in the 36th minute before Hill scored her side’s fifth in 54th minute to round off the scoring at 5-1.
In the U18 Boys Scottish Cup, Strathallan defeated Inverleith in the first semi-final with two goals from Jack Burton and Ross Buchanan, while a double from Matt Little gave Watsonians a 2-1 win over Kelburne to progress to the final.
The final between Watsonians and Strathallan was closely contested for the majority of the first half before Kai McQueen broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute to give his side a 1-0 lead at half-time. The Edinburgh side clinched the trophy shortly after the interval with two goals in two minutes from Danny Prentice in the 40th and 41st minute to make it 3-0.
Clydesdale Western were the winners of the U18 Girls Scottish Plate following a comprehensive 6-0 win over Dunfermline in the final.
The Titwood side were three goals up at half time after strikes from Rosie Shanks (11’), Holly Steiger (31’) and Robyn Belch (33’). They added three more goals to their tally, with Steiger getting her second of the game in the 38th minute, a Mairead Corrigan field goal in the 46th minute and a penalty corner finish from Julie Lonergan in the 50th minute.
In the U18 Boys Scottish Plate, Gordonians ran out winners of a three-way pool contest against Clydesdale and Perthshire.
Clydesdale came from behind to beat Perthshire 2-1 in the first match of the day with goals from Lewis Crawford and Patrick Lonergan overcoming Ross Ogg’s ninth minute opening goal.
Gordonians then recorded a comfortable 9-0 victory over Perthshire, with doubles from Mark Reid and Kevin Wong, and single goals from Jamie Wong, Dan Leggett, Ewan Harry-Thomas, Alan Oldham and
In the deciding match, Reid opened the scoring for Gordonians in the 12th minute before John Joe Lonergan equalised for Clydesdale in the 19th minute.  The Aberdonians took the lead again in the 29th minute through captain Euan Lindsay to give his side a 2-1 lead at half-time.
Goals from Harry-Thomas in the 40th minute and a second goal for Reid in the 52nd minute made it 4-1 before Clydesdale came back into the contest with goals from Patrick Lonergan and Leo Hay to make it 4-3. However, Gordonians held out to win the match and take the plate.
