Wanderers win Division 1 championship in emphatic style

Dundee Wanderers capped off a remarkable indoor league season with three comprehensive victories over Reid Kerr College Kelburne (5-2), CALA Edinburgh (13-2) and title rivals Grove Menzieshill (11-2) to win the Division 1 championship at today’s final session at Forthbank.
Wanderers finished the season with an impressive 100% record comprising fourteen wins from fourteen matches. The Dundonians also scored well over a century of goals during the league campaign, averaging just fewer than nine goals per game.
City rivals Grove Menzieshill defeated Inverleith in their first match (7-3) but effectively handed the title to Wanderers after a 5-3 loss to Milne Craig Clydesdale Western.
Joining Dundee Wanderers and Grove Menzieshill for next Saturday’s Indoor Gala Day and the European play-offs at Bell’s Sports Centre, Perth will be CALA Edinburgh and Milne Craig Clydesdale Western, who finished third and fourth.
The Edinburgh side defeated the Titwood outfit 4-2 and also won against Granite City Wanderers (5-2).  Milne Craig Clydesdale Western’s win over Grove Menzieshill and draw against Western Wildcats (2-2) clinched their place in the mix for European qualification.
Granite City Wanderers and Inverleith Ladies are relegated from the league following today’s losses in their two matches.
National Indoor League Central Division
Milne Craig Clydesdale Western II soured the party for league winners Waverley Inveresk Trinity by ending their unbeaten record with a 5-4 win over the Edinburgh side.
The Titwood outfit also beat Grange EL (4-3) to pip Glasgow rivals Hillhead Ladies to second place in the league on goal difference.
Both Waverley Inveresk Trinity and Hillhead Ladies progress to a play-off against the Midland & North qualifiers with a place in Division 1 next season up for grabs.
National Indoor League Midland & North Division
Grove Menzieshill A celebrated clinching the Midland & North title with victories over Perthshire (5-4) and Stirling Wanderers (4-1) at today’s indoor session at DISC.
They finished twelve points clear of Perthshire, who in turn pipped Dundee Wanderers II to second place despite a 6-4 loss to Wanderers.
Both Perthshire and Dundee Wanderers II now go into a play-off scenario against the qualifiers from the Central Division to determine promotion to Division 1.
Bon Accord MBC finish bottom of the table but enjoyed their final session with wins over Dundee Wanderers II (4-2) and Stirling Wanderers (5-2).
