Wanderers target top five spot
Dundee Wanderers face an important double header this weekend in Women’s Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 1.
The Dundonians face Inverleith Ladies at Forthbank tonight (19.30) and then travel to Glasgow to play Western Wildcats at Auchenhowie tomorrow afternoon (15.00).
Significantly, they can leapfrog Giffnock into the top five of the league if they can muster positive results from their two matches.
In Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 2, second place Granite City Wanderers face a tough fixture against promotion rivals Watsonians at Aberdeen Sports Village (13.30).
The two sides played out a 1-1 draw the last time they met in the league and both sides will want to keep leaders GHK in their sights with a victory tomorrow. Meanwhile, GHK can extend maintain their position at the top of the table if they can record a win away Borders Fjordhus Rievers at Tweedbank (14.30).
At the bottom, relegation threatened Haddington Ladies and Waverley Inveresk Trinity go head-to-head at the Augbigny Centre (12.00). A win for the East Lothian side would extend the points difference to six and leave the Bangholm side a mountain to climb in their attempts to escape the drop.
Elsewhere, Erskine Stewart’s Melville could climb into the promotion spots if they can notch up a win away to Highland at Bught Park (13.30) and other results go their way, while Glasgow University take on city rivals Hillhead Ladies at Garscube (13.00).
AAM Merlins Gordonians are the runaway leaders in Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 3 and will be aiming to extend their winning run to eleven matches away to Dundee University at Riverside Park (15.00).
Stirling University can stay in contention for promotion with a home win against Bon Accord MBC at Gannochy Sports Centre (12.30), while Stirling Wanderers can stay with the promotion chasing pack with an away win over St.Andrew’s University (12.00). Similarly, Aberdeen University have the same aim when they play bottom side Ayr at Aberdeen Sports Village (15.00).
