Wanderers secure back-to-back weekend wins
Dundee Wanderers look to have confirmed their place in the top half of the Women’s Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 1 following wins against Inverleith and Western Wildcats.
Only Glynhill Hotel Kelburne stand in their way and the Paisley side would have to win their two pre-split matches by considerable margins to overcome their inferior goal difference to Wanderers.
The Dundonians took care of the Edinburgh side on Friday night with a 5-1 win and were successful on their travels today as they notched up five goals without reply against Western Wildcasts at Auchenhowie.
In Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 2, Watsonians moved up to second in the table after a 2-1 away win against Granite City Wanderers in Aberdeen.
The Edinburgh side are two points behind leaders GHK, who defeated Borders Fjordhus Rievers 4-1 at Tweedbank.
Elsewhere, Haddington Ladies recorded an important 4-1 win over Waverley Inveresk Trinity to move six points clear of their rivals at the foot of the table. Glasgow University remain in the relegation dogfight after a 4-1 defeat at home to city rivals Hillhead Ladies.
Erskine Stewart’s Melville against Highland was postponed.
There was a shock in Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 3 as leaders AAM Merlins Gordonians suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of second place Dundee University.
Aberdeen University moved up to third with a 2-0 win over Ayr Ladies, while Bon Accord MBC secured a good result away to Stirling University, winning 3-2.
St.Andrew’s University recorded a comfortable 4-1 win over Stirling Wanderers.
