Uddingston Hockey Club are holding a primary school
hockey festival at Tannochside Primary School (Douglas Street,

which will see 13 primary schools (over 350 boys & girls)

programme.
The in-school programme that has been on-going since January
2011 has seen Uddingston Hockey Club send coaches into 13 primary
and 5 secondary schools in South & North Lanarkshire and
Glasgow areas with the view of coaching primary 4 – 7 and secondary
years 1 – 4 for the full school year August 2012 to June 2013 over
the four terms with the view of building up a hockey club in each
school that would then feed into the main club youth set up.
So far this has seen after school clubs started in all schools
with clubs averaging 25 players attending weekly either for a lunch
or after school club. The programme has been supported via
fundraising by the Hockey club itself plus with the support of
Uddingston Sport Hub and grant support from Awards For All and
Communities 2014, which has helped towards costs such as equipment,
coaches, transport and coach development.
The festival on the 10th will involve 6 primary schools taking
part between 9:30 and 11:30 with a further 7 taking part 12:30 –
2:30, which will see each school bringing along 4 teams of 7
