U16 National Club Cup Finals
A busy weekend of youth hockey continues at Peffermill tomorrow with our U16 National Club Cup Finals. Six boys’ teams and four girls’ teams will battle it out to be Scottish champions.
Teams from across the country have been playing matches in groups since last September, with the top teams qualifying for the finals.
Match timings are in the U16 National Club Cup Schedule.
Boys Competition
The boys’ teams have been split into two Pools for finals day. The winners of each Pool will play in the cup final at 3.35pm. The second and third place teams will compete for places 3-6.
- Pool A: Watsonians, Perthshire and Grove Menzieshill
- Pool B: Inverleith, ESM and Cala Edinburgh
In the qualifying groups, Grove Menzieshill edged Cala Edinburgh on goal difference in Pool A, but both qualified for the finals ahead of Grange and Western Wildcats. In a very competitive Pool B, Inverleith finished ahead of Perthshire, Clydesdale and Dundee Wanderers. And in Pool C, Watsonians had three wins against ESM, Uddingston and Dunfermline Carnegie, with ESM grabbing the runners-up spot.
Girls Competition
The four winners of the Girls’ qualifying groups will play semi-finals at 12.50pm, with the winners reaching the final at 5pm; and the others playing for 3rd/4th place.
Grove Menzieshill, who topped Pool A ahead of Cala Edinburgh, Gordonians and Kelburne, will play Watsonians, who finished with a 100% record in Pool C against Inverleith, GHK and Uddingston.
Fjordhus Reivers edged out ESM on goal difference to win Pool C, also beating Clydesdale Western and Dundee Wanderers. They will play Pool D winners, Grange, who finished ahead of Western Wildcats, Gullane and Granite City Wanderers.
