St Andrews University, and Jack Frost again, were the winners

The final day of the women`s Premiership was once again the victim of the weather…this time Jack Frost saw the cancellation of four matches and another after only the first quarter.

However, St Andrews University travelled to Aberdeen to break the freeze and collect three points with a 9-0 win over Gordonians. The result puts the students to within one point of sixth placed GHK with a whiff of a top six place at the split.

Maura Holden was top scorer with a hat-trick, Hannah Coull got a couple and others came from Jasmine Mitchell, Ellen Sloss, Fiona Hawkins and Julia Chapman.

After the match, we caught up with St Andrews coach Jamie Carnegie who put the result into context. “Every win is important this year as a new team promoted to the Premiership. It`s a big step up from the National League and the team have stepped up massively. Four wins before Christmas is better than anticipated and will allow us to focus on building for the next season after the split.”

Uddingston travelled to Inverleith in search of valuable three points to move closer to the top six, the game lasted but one quarter and then a frozen pitch at Peffermill ended proceedings with the score at 0-0.
