Six of the best from Grove

PEREGRINES CUP

Scottish champions Grove Menzieshill effectively ended
Glynhill Kelburne`s challenge at the top of pool A of the
Peregrines Cup with a comfortable 6-0 win at
DISC.

Although Louise Carroll had an early miss from
a penalty corner, Grove romped into a four goal lead by the
interval, Sarah Jamieson opened the scoring, followed by goals from
Dani Johnston, Kat Cameron and Jamieson again.   Grove`s
control of proceedings continued in the second half and Carroll
scored twice from set pieces to complete the scoring.

VWS Dundee Wanderers temporarily swept to the top of the pool
with a 9-0 crushing of Giffnock, but the Taysiders have completed
their programme and the final pole position will be decided by the
outcome of tomorrow`s clash between Western Wildcats and
Grove.   Today there were two goals each for Amy
Rowan, Heather Elder and Ashley Bunce, while Becky Ward,
Jessica Ross and Charlotte Watson got the rest.

CALA Edinburgh ended Grange`s slim chance of challenging Milne
Craig Western at the top of pool B with a 4-0 win at
Meggetland.   In the other game Edinburgh University
broke their duck for this season with a 2-1 win over
Inverleith.

YOUTH INTER-DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

West district took a giant leap towards the
inter-district under 18s title at Peffermill with back to back
victories over East and Midland.

It took a last gasp winner from Glynhill Kelburne`s Jack
McAllister to take the three points from East in a 4-3
thriller.  The game looked to be heading for a draw until the
belated clincher, Danny Cain, Robbie Shepherdson and Cameron Good
were on target for East while Jack McKenzie, John Reid and Gordon
Amour scored for West.

West then went on to see off Midland 2-1, McKenzie and Reid put
their side into a two goal lead at the interval, Fergus Sandison`s
late goal for Midland proved to be a consolation only.

Midland won their first encounter 5-3 over North, VWS Dundee
Wanderers` Fergus Sandison notched two while the other goals came
from brother Angus Sandison, Colin Gordon and Callum Boag.

A hat-trick by Danny Cain was the catalyst in East`s comfortable
4-1 win over North in their second encounter, Angus Robb got the
other.

West lead the league table with six points and are already
assured of a place in tomorrow`s final, East and Midland will fight
it out in a head to head to contest the other final place, while
North have yet to get off the mark.

West also lead the table in the under 16s tournament with six
points from their games against Midland and North.   West
scored at will against Midland with a 5-2 victory, there were two
each for Fabien Goldie and Jamie McTaggart while Chris McFadden
scored the other.   West went on to beat North 2-0 in the
last game of the day, the scorers here were Allan Johnstone and
David Nairn.

East are two points behind, they drew their opening fixture 1-1
with Midland, their goal came from Noel Anderson while Elliot
Sandison got the equaliser for Midland.   East then
scored a magnificent seven against Highland with doubles from Royce
Miller and Andrew Nickerson, while Patrick Christie, Joe Waterston
and Ruairidh Grossart got the others.  Highland started the
tournament off well with a 4-3 win over North, two goals came from
Humzah Khan and there were singles from Charlie Fuller and Ewan
Kelly.

At the bottom end of the table Midland have a single point from
their two games while North have lost both their games.
