Shepherd selects Scotland squad for Italy warm-up and World League

Scotland Women Head Coach Gordon Shepherd has named his squad of players for forthcoming warm-up matches against Italy and the important FIH World League Round 2 competition in Brazil.
The Scots travel to Rome for warm weather training and three non-capped friendly matches against Italy from 15-21 February, before flying to Rio for the FIH World League from 4-11 March.
Discussing the FIH World League Round 2, Scotland Women Head Coach Gordon Shepherd said, “There is a bit of a split in the tournament, with three good teams and three not so good teams. However, we have to treat every team with respect and if we do that, the bottom teams should be taken care of by ourselves, Chile and America.
“For us, we need to finish in the top two and that means we need beat Chile or America to qualify for World League Round 3. That’s our target.”
Great Britain U21 international Sarah Robertson misses out after picking up a knee injury in Australia. Aside from Robertson’s absence, Shepherd has been able to select the same group of players who competed in the FIH Champions Challenge in Dublin last October.
“I am confident”, continued Shepherd. “We have an excellent group of players and the eighteen players selected should be good enough to qualify for Round 3.”
Scotland Women: Amy Gibson, Catriona Ralph, Holly Cram, Alison Howie, Susan McGilveray, Morag McLellan, Nicola Skrastin (all Milne Craig Clydesdale Western), Alison Bell, Linda Clement (c), Leigh Fawcett, Ailsa Wylie (all Grove Menzieshill), Nicola Cochrane, Sam Judge, Nikki Kidd (all Edinburgh University), Vikki Bunce (Dundee Wanderers), Kareena Marshall (Giffnock), Aileen Davies (Clifton HC), Nikki Lloyd (Seven Oaks HC).
