Share of the spoils for Scotland in final Irish encounter
A 1-1 draw against Ireland was today’s outcome for Scotland Women in the final encounter of the three match series in Newtownabbey.
Following a scoreless first half during which both teams could not capitalise on several penalty corner opportunities, it was Ireland who struck first when a penalty corner set-play was deflected home by Nikki Symmons.
However, the visitors hit back shortly afterwards after Nikki Lloyd was on hand to finish off a Scottish counter-attack and level the scores at 1-1 with a scorching effort past Emma Gray.
As a result, Ireland win the match 2-0 and Scotland now look forward to two matches against Belgium at the end of July as the EuroHockey Nations Championship on 17-25 August nears ever closer.
