Setback for Grove Menzieshill in Europe
Grove Menzieshill’s promotion challenge suffered a setback after a 6-2 defeat at the hands of Austrian side SV Arminen in the EuroHockey Indoor Champions Trophy, being held in Minsk.
Chris Wilson was on hand to net a double for his team against the Austrians, but Scotland’s European representatives were well beaten in the end.
The Taysiders now require a sizeable win against HC Rotweiss Wettingen in their final match of the competition tomorrow at 11.10am GMT, and hope that SV Arminen beat HAHK Mladost.

The day started off in good fashion for Chris Anderson’s side, drawing 4-4 with HAHK Mladost in their final Pool A match after being 3-0 down early in the contest. Last season’s indoor champions rallied back through two goals from Sam Tilston and one from Josh Cairns to be level at 3-3 at half-time.
Despite falling behind again after half-time, a Ben Cromar equaliser in the 27th minute ensured that they progressed to the promotion pool as Pool A winners and with two points.
