Senior Men To Host Golf Day Fundraiser
Scottish Hockey will host World League Round One in September with the men’s competition being staged at Glasgow’s National Hockey Centre.
Our national side will feature in a four or five team round-robin tournament and ranking at the end of the event will determine which teams qualify for Round Two which is scheduled to take place in in early 2017.
The Scotland squad is already preparing for the prestige event under the guidance of head coach Derek Forsyth.
Work is also under way off the field to promote the tournament and to raise the profile of the highly-talented squad.
A highlight will be a golf day on Thursday, July 7 at The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh.
Players and coaching staff will feature in teams vying for prizes over the testing 6,531-yard parkland course at Royal Burgess which is regarded as the world’s oldest golfing society.
It is also one of golf’s leading clubs which has His Royal Highness The Duke of York as an Honorary Member.
We would be delighted it you can join us on the day and if you are interested please contact the organiser, Alistair Imrie.
He said: “Currently, we have a great deal to be proud of in Scottish Hockey.
“Two members of the squad are in the Great Britain pool from which our representatives in the Olympic Games in Rio this summer will be selected.”
He added: “Another member of the squad recently played in the hugely popular Hockey India League alongside world stars.
“Several of the current team play in Holland and Germany and in leading clubs in England like East Grinstead, Surbiton and Beeston.
“This is a unique opportunity to get to know some of them and find out more what it takes to be a top athlete.”
To enter a team or play in this event please contact Alistair Imrie on 07740 766 900. He looks forward to hearing from you.
