Semi-final places up for grabs in Women’s Arthur McKay Scottish Cup

The Arthur McKay Women’s Scottish Cup quarter-final games will take place on Sunday, which will see the last eight become the last four.
CALA Edinburgh have arguably been one of the most impressive teams in the cup this year, following 0-10 and 0-9 away victories against Watsonians A and Aberdeen Ladies. They will host Grange EL. The away side will be looking to maintain their confidence, after securing their first league win this year against Giffnock at the weekend.
Hillhead Ladies will be looking to upset home side and league 1 giants Milne Craig Clydesdale Western to guarantee a place in the last 4. Hillhead will not let their opponent’s league one status dampen their confidence, as they disposed of league one side Giffnock 1-0 in the last round.
Dundee Wanderers will host fellow league one team Grove Menzieshill. Both sides won convincingly in the previous rounds, keeping clean sheets against their opponents. However this game will prove to be extremely tough for both Dundee and Grove, as both sides will have to be at their best if they want to make it to the semi-finals.
Inverleith will be hoping to get revenge against Edinburgh University, following their 5-0 league defeat back in December. However the University side plan to cause more upset to the potentially relegated league one side by beating them to the last 4.

The Women’s Arthur McKay Scottish Cup quarter-final games will take place on Sunday, which will see the last eight become the last four.

In a mirror image of the men’s draw, local rivals Dundee Wanderers and Grove Menzieshill will fight it out for a place in the semi-finals. Both sides won convincingly in the previous rounds, keeping clean sheets against their opponents. However this game will prove to be extremely tough for both Wanderers and Grove, as both sides will have to be at their best if they want to make it to the semi-finals.

Looking forward to the match, Dundee Wanderers play-maker Vikki Bunce said, “Games against Grove are always challenging, we respect them as a team and are aware of their strengths. We have strengths too and are working hard to compete with the top teams in the league.

This weekend in the cup will be no different, we will focus on our game plan and work on areas we feel we can improve on. In terms of prep for this game, nothing will be different. We are working on the same themes and will continue to do so, building for remaining games in the league and, hopefully, stay in the cup.”
