Scottish Hockey shows support for St Vincent’s Hospice as an official charity partner
Scottish Hockey is delighted to announce it is supporting St Vincent’s Hospice as an official charity partner.
St Vincent’s Hospice is a charitable organisation at the heart of the community, offering specialist care and services to all those affected by life limiting illness. It also helps the loved ones of patients through the entirety of their journey, and afterwards through bereavement support.
The hospice provided exceptional care for Scotland Men’s Head Coach Derek Forsyth, and everyone at Scottish Hockey is grateful for the fantastic work the charity does.
Derek’s wife, Lynn Forsyth, who is the Scottish Hockey President and a former Scotland and GB internationalist, was joined by current Scotland internationalists Fran Lonergan, Andrew McAllister, and Bronwyn Shields—all of whom were coached by Derek. Finn Halliday from McDonald’s in the Community, a great supporter of the hospice and also one of Derek’s former trainees during his time at Glasgow Green with Scotland youth squads, was also present to formally launch the charity partnership.

Lynn Forsyth said, “From the minute we walked into the hospice a weight lifted from our shoulders. The care and attention Derek got was second to none. The person centred care is exceptional and families are allowed to enjoy the comfort and time with relatives without added pressure put into them.
“We will always be grateful to the wonderful staff for the care we got whilst Derek was in the hospice, and I’m absolutely delighted that Scottish Hockey will support the hospice.”
Emma Donald, Community, Corporate & Event Manager from St Vincent’s Hospice, said, “We are deeply honoured by the support from Scottish Hockey in memory of Derek. Lynn’s heartfelt words capture the core of our mission: to provide exceptional, person-centred care that lifts the burden from families during challenging times. We are committed to ensuring that every patient and their family feel supported and comfortable, allowing them to focus on spending meaningful time together.
The partnership with Scottish Hockey not only helps us continue delivering this high level of care but also celebrates Derek’s legacy in the hockey community. We are incredibly grateful to Lynn and Scottish Hockey for their unwavering support and dedication to our cause. Together, we can make a significant difference during our patients and families most difficult times.
