Scottish Hockey launches new strategy: Shaping the Future of Hockey in Scotland
Over the past year, hundreds of players, volunteers, coaches, officials, clubs, and partners have helped shape the future of hockey in Scotland. We listened carefully to your experiences, your challenges, and your ambitions for the sport.
Today, we are pleased to share our new strategy, Shaping the Future for Hockey in Scotland, running from 2026–2031.
This strategy sets a clear direction built around four priorities: growing participation, improving competitions and events, strengthening performance pathways through “The Scotland Way”, and ensuring hockey is well organised, safe, inclusive, and sustainable.
Most importantly, this is not a strategy for Scottish Hockey alone. It is an invitation for the whole hockey family to work together to bring it to life locally — in clubs, schools, universities, districts, and communities across Scotland.
Scottish Hockey CEO, Derek Keir, said, “We’re absolutely delighted to launch Shaping the Future of Hockey in Scotland. It’s an import time to work with our clubs and our key stakeholders to really move the sport forward – we can’t do it without them and we’re really looking forward to what the strategy is going to bring, and to collaborate to create opportunities that will last a lifetime.”
Chair of Scottish Hockey, Neil Francis, added, “It’s so exciting to launch a new strategy for the future of hockey in Scotland. The new strategy is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate right across our Scottish Hockey family, and we’re all really excited for positive impact of the strategy in the years ahead.”
