Scotland women`s under 21 side totally dominated
proceedings in Belfast but had to be content with a 1-1 draw with
Ulster, the next stage in the build-up for the European Junior
Nations Championships in Russia later in the summer.
The Scots had their chances in the first
half, Louise Campbell`s high shot was saved by the goalkeeper while
further chances to Sarah Robertson and Fiona Bruce suffered the
same fate.
The Scots opened the scoring ten minutes after the interval, a
penalty corner strike Ali Howie was deflected home by Milne Craig
Western`s Fiona Bruce. Further chances fell the Scot`s way,
but Campbell, Howie and Alex Wilson`s efforts were blocked by the
Ulster keeper. With three minutes to go a lack of
concentration in the Scotland defence allowed the Irish their only
shot at goal and the equaliser.
“We played very well but we need more outcomes in the circle,
particularly from eight penalty corners. We dominated the
game but unfortunately the Irish scored from their only chance in
the game,” said Dave Stott, Scotland`s coach.
