Scots brush aside French in Lille
Scotland`s under 18 girls rebounded from their defeat at the hands
of the Germans on Friday with a convincing 5-2 win over France in
the second match of the three nations tournament in Lille.
After a period of relentless pressure the Scots youngsters took the
lead with a goal from Glynhill Kelburne`s Emma Barlow after good
build-up work by Hazel Hall. The French retaliated with an
equaliser in their first attack of the game, but the Scots
immediately went up the pitch and GHK`s Jenny Morris restored the
lead with a great strike from the top of the circle.
The Scots continued to dominate in the second half and further
goals came from Barlow who scored her second, Sarah Robertson and
Mairi Robertson.
“I was very pleased with the performance against France, and
particularly with the intensity of our play against a side in
Europe`s top eight,” said Colin Clarke, Scotland`s head
coach.
Scotland`s boys gained their revenge against Ulster with a 4-1
victory in the second test match at Jordanstown. After Ulster
took the lead in the first half, the Scots youngsters took control
and a hat-trick from Inverleith`s Jake Hubbard and a further strike
by Greaves Clydesdale striker Ben Peterson sealed a comfortable win
for the Scots to level the series.
