Scotland women’s squad to play England at Bisham

Scotland women will play England at Bisham this weekend in a two-match test series. The games, played on Sunday at 15:30pm and Monday at 12:00, come as part of preparations for the EuroHockey Championships in Monchengladbach next month.

Scotland’s head coach, Chris Duncan, has named the same squad who defeated Czech Republic in two 4-0 victories at Peffermill last weekend, minus Sarah Robertson who picked up an injury.

The Scots are building up to the EuroHockey Championships in Monchengladbach, Germany, where Scotland will play in Group B against England; Germany; and Ireland, while the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Italy meet in Group A.

As well as the two wins over Czech Rep, the Scots have played successful competitive test series’ already this year against Ireland and Wales, as well as matches against World number three ranked Australia, and top ten ranked China.

Head Coach Chris Duncan said, “As we continue our preparations for the European championships, it’s brilliant to have games against such high quality opposition in England. We are pleased with our return to competitive action last weekend against the Czech Republic and are excited to step up to the challenge of playing one of the world’s top five sides in England this weekend.

“They have a rich history, and a fantastic programme, so to see where we stand against a team of their standing will be great as we begin our final preparations for the Europeans next month.

“Naturally, we play each other in the final group game, so both teams will be coy about revealing too much tactically, but for us we are excited to test ourselves against world class opposition. The Scotland versus England tag always adds an extra dimension, and we are all really looking forward to the contest.”
