Scotland Women to face Ireland and Belgium in Dublin
The Scotland Women’s team head off to Dublin to face Ireland and Belgium in a three-team series next month.
The tournament is part of Scotland’s wider preparations for the World Cup Qualification journey in 2026.
Game one of the trip sees the Tartan Hearts face Belgium at 13:00 on Saturday 6 December before taking on hosts Ireland on Sunday 7 December at 12:30.
It has been an excellent year for the team so far with a fifth place finish at Nations Cup in Chile, which boosted the team into 15th in the FIH world rankings in March, and then a sixth spot finish at the EuroHockey Championship in Monchengladbach back in August.
Now with February World Cup qualifiers as an upcoming target the matches in Dublin offer a prime preparation opportunity against top opposition.
Head Coach Chris Duncan said, “Following a year of two really pleasing tournament performances in the Nations Cup and EuroHockey Championship, we are excited to be getting back into competitive action, with games against two excellent Pro League teams. As we begin our build up towards the World Cup qualifiers in February, these games come at a brilliant time to give us a benchmark of where we need to apply focus in the run in to an amazing opportunity to qualify for the World Cup in 2026.
“This block has seen some gains made around our final third connections, and we are hopeful to learn and see some of those developments in games against Belgium and Ireland, both of whom were in our group in Germany. These games have given a real point of focus for the last two months, and the squad we have picked are raring to go”
