Scotland U21 women enjoy a clean sweep of wins at Peffermill
Scotland U21 women made it a clean sweep of victories with a 4-1 win over Wales U21 women at Peffermill.
Early in the contest Hannah Young opened the scoring for Scotland, firing low into the bottom right corner after an attack down the left.
Scotland peppered the Welsh goal but somehow the ball stayed out the net; first they hit the post after a deflection was touched onto the post by the goalkeeper.
Then Neave Halliday hit the crossbar on the second phase of a penalty corner.
Wales enjoyed some good possession in the second quarter but struggled to get anywhere near the Scotland goal.
Then Scotland furthered their advantage when Izzy Usher goal pounced on a loose ball in the circle as half time approached.
Katie Brett almost made it 3-0 from a straight strike from a penalty corner but the ball went just wide of the right post.
Scotland eventually went 3-0 up when the ball was forced over the line through a ruck of players, before a second for Usher and a fourth for Scotland through a delightful Deflection into the roof of the net from a corner routine.
Wales pulled one back through a well worked goal finished off by Bella Rochedavies.
Usher nearly bagged a hat trick when she went on a solo run but hit the side netting from a tight angle. It ended 4-1 for Scotland and a fine victory to round off the series.
